You love you little iPod, and the fun of toting all your favorite tunes around for your listening pleasure in a device the size of a playing card. You love knowing that you can turn up the volume on your iPod to your heart’s content with your headphones preventing anyone else from complaining about the sound.
But what you think would be even better is being able to forego the headphones from time to time, and use your iPod, with your customized selection of songs, like a regular CD or cassette player. Just tuck it in a corner somewhere, and have it fill a room with sound like an invisible choir. You wouldn’t have to remove your headphones every time the phone rings, or you want to have a conversation. Sounds good, but is it too good to be true?
Not any more. Thanks to the soaring success of the iPod, both Apple and some heavy-duty audio speaker manufacturers have developed iPod speakers, which will give you an alternative to the standard in-you-ear intimacy of the iPod’s headphones.

Apple’s iPod HiFi
If you can picture a center-channel speaker from a home theater system, with an iPod dock on top, you’ll have an idea of what the Apple IPod HiFi iPod speakers are all about. The Apple iPod HiFi portable, measuring 6.6 ‘ high by 17 ‘ wide X by 6.9′ deep, and weighing 14.5 pounds without batteries or 16.7 pounds with six D batteries. And the Apple HiFi iPod Speaker is equipped with a remote, so you can control the music selection without having to mess with your iPod.
But if the thought of nearly seventeen pound iPod speakers does not appeal, by all means give the Altec Lansing inMotion iPod speakers a look. The inMotion iPod speakers will speak to the iPod enthusiast’s heart, weighing in at a mere fifteen ounces–yes, ounces–and measuring, when folded up, 8′ wide by 5.4 inches deep and 1.2 inches thick. And don’t worry about the batteries adding a significant amount of weight; these iPod speakers will run for twenty-four hours straight on four AA batteries.
Uses For iPod Speakers
Either of these iPod speakers, or any of the several brands now available, can open your iPod use to any number of occasions, from party or outdoor outings to sharing audio books to letting you use your iPod to store and present information for school or job reports.
iPod speakers are the perfect solution to for those who are tired of keeping their great iPod listening experiences to themselves!

So you’ve finally decided to get your favorite music throughout your house. What’s next? Where do you go from here? That depends upon your requirements and weather this will be an installation in an existing home or a music system in a new construction home.
First, you need to decide which rooms you would like to install your speakers. The installation will obviously be much easier during construction than in an existing home. Once you make the decision on which rooms to include, you have two choices; in-wall or in-ceiling.
In-ceiling speakers tend to draw less attention to themselves. In all but basic background music applications, in-wall speakers usually sound better, everything else being equal. In-wall speakers have other problems, however. They are usually harder to integrate aesthetically in the room. They also take up valuable wall space that can be used for art or furniture.

Typically, round speakers are used for in-ceiling installations and rectangular speakers are used when installing in the wall. Round speakers integrate better with other ceiling fixtures, such as smoke detectors and recessed light cans, which tend to be round as well. In addition, because most round speakers have coaxially located drivers, you are the same distance from both no matter where you are in the room. This leads to more even frequency response throughout the room. Rectangular speakers tend be better suited to in-wall, rather than in-ceiling, applications.
It is best to keep the speakers two feet or so from adjacent walls or other boundaries that can cause response problems. Optimally, in wall speakers should be at, or close to, ear level. Place in-ceiling speakers so they are symmetrical with ceiling fixtures and the room.
Usually stereo pairs of speakers are used in each room. Another approach that works well is to sum the some signals into mono. You can then run the system in mono for most areas that use in-ceiling speakers. The mono approach allows you to get more uniform coverage, rather than standing under a speaker that is only playing the left channel for example.
You can also use one speaker for areas like small bathrooms and still get both channels of the music. There are speakers with dual voice coils and inputs for both the left and right channels on a single speaker that are also used for this type of application. It can be demonstrated that the summed mono approach using a single, standard voice coil speaker usually sounds better, however.
Multi-room speaker systems can be set up as single zone or multiple zone systems. In a single zone system, all the speakers play the same source. With a multi-zone audio system, the system is divided into two or more areas that can play different sources. This flexibility is really nice when different occupants want to listen to different music at the same time. For example, with a three zone system, you could listen to three different sources simultaneously in three different areas of your house.
With a single zone system, it is still desirable to have independent volume control over each pair of speakers or to turn off any pair completely. This is accomplished by using a speaker level volume control for each room. These are usually a just round knob, although other styles, such as sliders, are used as well.
Multi zone systems are usually controlled by some type of keypad, system remote control, or wall mounted touchscreen. Typically, there is one of these control interfaces for each zone. There is an old saying in racing ‘Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?’ So it is with multi zone music system controls. Control costs money. How much do you want?
A standard knob style volume control is under $100. Step up to a keypad for more control and you are looking at $250 to $500. Touch screen controls offer the ultimate in simplicity and flexibility. In addition, touch screens allow feedback, such as volume, radio station, and music server information, to be displayed on the touch screen. Touch screen controls begin at about $500 and can go to $20,000 each, depending upon size and options. The more sophisticated controls allow you to turn on your music and choose sources from each room. It’s as easy as turning on a light.
Some of the more advanced controls can operate independently, while some require a central processor. If you are installing a multi zone system, you will need a multi room controller and amplifier. These can be integrated into one component or they can be separate pieces. Prices on these vary widely. It is better for most people to contact a professional custom installer for installation of these type of components.
There are a number of decisions to make when planning your in-wall speaker system. Do you want single or multi zone? In-wall or in-ceiling? Both? What type of controls would you like? You can research these questions on your own or consult a qualified professional for assistance. With careful planning you will have a music system you can enjoy for years to come.

"I apologize for being late" are five words that should never come out of the mouth of someone who is addressing an audience.
And yet, many speakers often arrive at their engagements late. While some situations can’t be avoided, there are things that a speaker can do in overcoming travel problems that threaten to delay the presentation of his remarks.
What are some of the things to remember about overcoming travel problems?
Among them:
ALWAYS overestimate the time needed to reach a location when traveling by car. A speaker should add at least an extra hour on top of the estimated time it will take him to reach a location where he is speaking to compensate for problems such as traffic. And there advantages to arriving early, which are discussed below
When traveling by plane, a speaker should guarantee he is booked on a flight that will arrive well in advance of his presentation. This is necessary to make sure he has ample time to arrive from the airport, check into a hotel if he staying over, and review the room where he is speaking
Along with overcoming possible travel problems as discussed above, success also demands knowing how to deal with situations that come out of nowhere such as flight delays, inclement weather or others. Overcoming travel problems in situations where a speaker has no control demands that he has contingency plans.
Contingency plans may involve having someone brief an audience on what he planned to share as a result of them having been previously provided with literature, advance copies of a speaker’s notes, information emailed to them, through a phone conversation, etc.

As with arriving for anything, there are also three arrival times for a speaker - early, on time, and late. And while on time or with only a few minutes to spare might be acceptable, one of the other arrival times is advantageous, while the other can lead to disaster:
-An early arrival provides a speaker time to check the room where he will be speaking, along with testing audiovisual equipment. It also allows him time to take care of any personal needs, relax, and - if he has arrived early enough -
review his comments one final time
-On the other time, a speaker who arrives late not only keeps an audience waiting, he eliminates the time he could have used for final preparations. Along with also not allowing him a chance to relax prior to his comments, a speaker who arrives late is far more likely to be in a frenzied state than even one who has arrived exactly on time
Overcoming travel problems can’t always be avoided. But there are times when they can. And there are still preparations that can be made to save the day in situations where they cannot be averted.

In-wall surround sound speaker is one of the different types of in-wall speakers. In-wall speaker are an ideal solution for those who want to enjoy music by keeping their speakers hidden. In contrast to conventional speakers, an in-wall speaker offers many benefits such as cost effectiveness, compatibility, easy installation, and flexibility. Further, it does not occupy any floor space and can be placed across any flat surface including ceilings. It is most suitable in multi-room settings. Other names for in-wall speakers are in-ceiling speaker and recessed ceiling speakers.
A recent addition in the field of in-wall speakers, in-wall surround sound speaker systems form a perfect match for your home dcor. The primary purpose of an in-wall surround sound speaker is to enhance home theater audio system, thereby providing non-intrusive enjoyment by keeping the speakers invisible. Its advantages, among many others, are high quality, outstanding performance, perfect sound, space saving, easy placement, sleek design, and versatility. In-wall surround sound speakers are most ideal in a home theater environment.

In-wall speakers with surround speaker system can be referred to as an audio system that involve the application of subwoofers, volume controls, cables, and two or more speakers including a rear speaker. Generally, surround sound speaker systems are available in two designs: monopole and bipole. Matrix sound and discrete sound are among the prime technologies employed for the performance of surround speaker system.
In-wall surround sound speaker system also has some disadvantages. Since it has static position, in-wall surround sound speaker systems sometimes lead to poor accuracy. Further, its installation cost is high. Another factor that affects the proper functioning of in-wall surround sound speakers is diffraction loss.
At present, a range of in-wall surround speakers coupled with advanced technologies are available according to the budget, need, and style of the customers.

The benefits of a whole house audio video distribution system are huge. In addition to having audio and video throughout the home it is worth focusing on individual sources where the benefits may not be immediately apparent.
Sky HD
With the advent of Sky + video distribution systems have really come in to their own. For quite some time people have been utilising the 2nd RF output on Sky receivers to get access to their Sky package in the master bedroom. Some people have even run to the expense of Sky multiroom to have the second room fed from its own receiver. With our systems we centralise the Sky receiver and make it available everywhere in the property - with High Definition audio and video available to every room. Not only does this give you the ultimate picture quality it also gives you access to all your recordings and live TV pause etc. Now you can watch what you want when you want throughout the home. For the ultimate indulgence we often install several Sky + HD boxes and give them names - one for kids, one for adults!
Kaleidescape DVD Servers
The Kaleidescape DVD server has revolutionised the way we can distribute DVD’s around the home. We have the option of installing a player in a dedicated home cinema room or centralising all the players, with audio and video distributed in high definition. Centralising the Movie Player 1080 gives us the flexibility to allow any room to join in a film at any point - allowing you to pause a film in the cinema and continue watching it in bed. It is difficult to mention Kaleidescape and not mention the beautiful user interface. List views and collections give you access to lots of information very easily - for example run length, sort by director, lead actor, genre etc but the best bit is the cover art view. In cover art view your films are arranged by relevance so if you hover over ‘Ice Age’ then you would get kids films grouped near by and also the artists films. This unique shuffle revolutionises the way you watch films - making it easy to pick out all films by a certain actor or watching films by a certain director.
Audio Servers
Our audio servers apply the same principal to CD’s as the above Kaleidescape server applies to DVD’s. Imagine being able to access your entire music collection anywhere in the home - without the need for a TV in the room. Multiple outputs allow one CD to be played in the bathroom whilst another plays in the bedroom. Simply inserting a CD in to the server means it is stored for ever - the server automatically goes off to the internet and downloads cover art and track listings - all of which can be displayed on a touchpanel in your chosen room.
iPod integration
We have a number of ways to share iPod’s around the home. At first glance a distributed iPod may render the above audio server redundant but there is nothing more frustrating than realising your partner has taken the iPod in the car or to the gym and you therefore have no music available. We tend to install iPod docking stations in kids bedrooms - they have access to their music and don’t clog your audio server with music you aren’t interested in. We can even make the iPod in the kids bedrooms available through out the home, meaning they can easily listen to their music in the games room or pool.

Remote Wireless Speakers can have you dancing outside in just five minutes. They work with a transmitter that it is connected directly to the music source (computer, i-pod or hi-fi) and transmits this signal to the pair of speakers on air. There is also a remote control allowing you to regulate the volume, switch on/off.
The advancements in wireless technology has made things move forward in an even faster pace. Systems are getting cheaper, while the quality is increasing and more accessories are introduced. But have in mind that in this business, this doesn’t mean there won’t be any wires, rather it means few of them. And this rule applies to all wireless speaker systems currently present on the market.
Such wireless speakers operate on 900MHz frequency so they can stand between 150 to 300 feet away from the transmitter depending on the model. Since they work on RF frequency, the signal is strong enough to pass through walls, floors and ceilings, but keep in mind that it’s better to have a clear path as the quality of sound decreases when more obstacles have to be passed.
CABLES UNLIMITED SPK-VELO-001

This compact, stylish, weather resistant set of speakers with remote will make your multimedia system come alive! Bring your music poolside, or up in the bedroom, without running wire everywhere in the house. This particular model is very easy to setup, well worth the price. Sound great. They are small enough to be able to easily carry them around. As far as power is concerned, you can use AC power on each speaker or batteries. But nevertheless, they have some drawbacks as for example you can’t turn on the speakers with the remote control, you have to push the button the main speaker which limits the placement options.
EOS Wireless Speakers
Just plug an Eos wireless speaker into any wall outlet, inside or out and turn up the volume. The installation is as simplen as that. Want to move your music to another place? Easy, just unplug it and plug it in somewhere else, it’s that easy. The Eos wireless speaker features a removable integrated power supply, so you can hang the speaker from any ordinary wall power outlet or remove the power supply for countertop or bookshelf use. The Eos base station allow you to add up to four wireless speakers anywhere around your home. The rugged design of the Eos wireless stereo speakers makes them perfect for indoor or outdoor use.

When you want to combine your old favorite CDs with the latest iPod technology, a device like the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system comes in very handy. iLuv call their product a "vertical audio system", as it features 4 CD bays on each side of the console. The CD bys have sliding doors created from transparent plastic, which ads well to the white surface of the iLuv 9200. The iPod docking station and the FM/AM radio bring the final touches to this interesting home entertainment option.
Although there is no subwoofer attached to the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system, you do get the option of adding one via a dedicated output. The speakers can be wither placed on detachable stands or mounted on the walls. The speaker cord is long enough so you don’t have to worry about running out of it in larger rooms. The upper part of the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system also houses the iPod dock. The dock is not visible when not in use and it also serves as a charger for your iPod.

The system works well if you’re not after the best quality out there. The price is also on the budget side. The plastics and materials used to create it are ok, but the remote control is a bit too large. Some noise is heard when the CD doors are opening up, but other than that the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system offers above average quality. The sound quality coming from the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system is, however, very good. There is unnoticeable sound resonance and the device is prompt to answer remote control commands.
While the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system is not packed with the latest in iPod technology and it has a few flaws that will probably annoy users every now and then, it is a device that delivers, for the kind of price it sells for (160 in the United Kingdom). Direct competitors of the iLuv 9200 iPod speaker system should also be looked at when shopping for this sort of home entertainment electronic device.

Home theater speaker placement is an important consideration for your home audio system. Spending a few minutes in setting up your home theater speakers will make a big difference in your home theater experience.
One of the major reasons to go to the movie cinema is the theater’s sound system and its ability to immerse you in the action through sound. As home theater technology has continued to improve, home theater owners find that they can match or exceed the local movie theater’s sound through their own home theater system.
Today’s typical home theater will have a 5.1 speaker setup which includes 5 speakers, a left and right main speaker, a center channel speaker and two surround speakers, along with a dedicated low frequency effects channel which is the .1.
To enjoy the magic of the movies in the comfort of your own home try the following simple speaker placement tips.

1. Make sure the center channel is "anchored" to the screen. The center channels function is to communicate the movie’s dialog. If the actor’s mouth is moving on the screen, but if the sound appears to be coming from off the screen the dialog will seem unnatural. A center channel speaker will be shielded so that you can place it directly on top of or below your tv.
2. Place the tweeters from your main speakers at ear level. In order to get the speakers to the proper ear level you will want to invest in a quality pair of speaker stands.
3. Each of the front three speakers, the main left, the main right and the center channel should all be placed at an equal distance from the main listening position and should be pointed towards the listener. The speakers should also be placed so that they have a slight natural arc. They generally should be placed between 22 - 30 degrees from the main listening position.
4. Surround sound speakers should be placed directly to the left and right or slightly behind the main listening position and should be located about two feet above ear level. A 6.1 system adds a third surround speaker behind the listener. It is important to note that it is best for that speaker not to be directly in line with the center channel. A 7.1 system adds a rear left and a rear right full range surround channel that should be added behind the listening position.
5. From my experience, nothing will add more impact to your movie watching experience then the addition of a quality subwoofer to your setup. Since deep bass is non directional, you can place your subwoofer pretty much anywhere. Many people will place it in the front corner, but some prefer it in the back or hidden along the side. It is important to note that generally bass will be enhanced by being placed next to the wall and even more so if placed in the corner.
These simple tips will get you started towards an enjoyable home theater experience. Every speaker and room have their own unique qualities so use this information as a guide, but experiment further with speaker placement in your own home. Moving a speaker even a few inches can make a dramatic impact on the quality of the sound.
Although the new flat screen tvs are what is getting everyone’s attention, a quality sound system with properly placed speakers are what helps transform regular television viewing into a true cinematic experience.

Stereo speakers are used to enhance the audio system in cars. They are usually described as distinctive in view, since they are used for duplicating audio frequencies. By and large, they are regarded as a very crucial component that constitutes an excellent stereo system.
More often than not, stereo speakers can be classified into two types — component speakers and full range speakers. Both encompass a number of pluses and minuses. Basically, full range speakers come in different sizes, made up of the tweeter, woofer and super tweeter. However, if you desire the best possible audio quality, then component speakers are the best choice.
![]()
You need to think over several factors to get the sound quality that you desire before purchasing stereo speakers. Apart from the type of speaker, other vital factors to consider are the speaker’s efficiency, frequency response and maximum power. These three things are interrelated with each other, and the absence of one may affect the entire sound frequency. The speaker’s frequency response must be superior and broader to achieve improved sound control and simulation. The efficiency of the speaker should also be taken into account. Keep in mind that the greater its efficiency, the better the result. Last but not least, maximum power must also be assessed for a long-lasting quality audio sound.
All in all, you should be careful in choosing a stereo speaker. It is suggested that you test out the speaker before f buying it. Stereo speakers come in a variety of brands and features.
